🍋 The short version: Grovy stores all your data on your device only. We never see it, never collect it, and never sell it. Ever.
Grovy is a food expiry tracking app created by Benjamin Duke. You can reach us at getgrovy.app@gmail.com.
Grovy does not collect any personal data. All food items, expiry dates, locations, and prices you enter are stored exclusively on your device using local storage (AsyncStorage).
We do not create accounts. We do not require registration. We have no access to any information you enter into the app.
When you use the receipt scanner feature, a photo of your receipt is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to extract food items and prices. This image is processed and immediately discarded — it is not stored by Grovy or associated with any personal identifier. Please refer to Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com for information about their data practices.
If you grant notification permissions, Grovy schedules local notifications on your device to remind you about expiring food. These notifications are generated and stored entirely on your device. We do not use push notification services that transmit data to external servers.
Grovy uses the Open Food Facts API to look up product information when scanning barcodes. Only the barcode number is sent to their servers. Open Food Facts is an open source, non-profit project. No personal information is transmitted.
Grovy uses Anthropic's Claude API for receipt scanning. Only the receipt image is sent, with no personal identifiers attached.
Since all data is stored on your device, you can delete all Grovy data at any time by using the "Clear all data" option in Settings, or by uninstalling the app. We have no copy of your data to delete on our end.
Grovy is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and note changes in the app update notes.
